Thanks to an hour plus wait for an interview with a big furniture manufacturer in Las Vegas, I had time to ponder all the wood, composite wood, and some propaganda boards posted by the Composite Panel Association that I saw at the show. While they touted all the benefits and pros of composite wood, they neglected to mention that not all composite wood is "environmentally benign" because of some levels of formaldehyde...but that aside for now...the boards reminded me of the importance of wood, sequestering carbon, and not getting freaked out by CARB. After all that is what this blog is all about, making going green, easy-going, so let's look at wood...

Seems like a stretch to see the cute little World Wildlife Fund Panda logo and the Wal-Mart Smiley logo in the same ad, let alone on their names on the same press release...but today both organizations announce that Wal-Mart has joined the WWF Global Forest and Trade Network. The network coordinates the initiative to protect threatened and valuable forests like the threatened forests in the Amazon, Amur-Heilong (Russia), Borneo, Sumatra, Congo, and Mekong (Southeast Asia.)
Through the WWF's initiative, the GFTN
assists companies in evaluating their procurement and implementing
appropriate action plans...
